Married in Oslo on December 20, 1899 with Marie Wisløff born in Bergen on December 1,1870. Children on picture are Elisabeth, Ragnar and Gunvor. They were among the three first missionaries the Norwegian Missionary Society (NMS) had to China in 1902. He was both a pastor and doctor. Helped build out the health sector both in Changsha and in Yiyang.
